The company recognizes its responsibility to the environment and has implemented an ISO 14001 Environmental Management System to ensure effective management of environmental processes, compliance with environmental legislation, and continual improvement of environmental performance, while reducing the risk of environmental harm. By doing so, the company is able to plan and implement the necessary measures to achieve its environmental objectives.
In 2013, EPAFOS was inspected and granted the ISO 14001 Environmental Management Certificate by the certification body TÜV HELLAS (TÜV NORD) SA, demonstrating their commitment to environmentally responsible operations.
The Environmental Management System provides a comprehensive framework for the ongoing reduction of the environmental impact of all company operations and facilities, including:
- Energy savings and efficient utilization of natural resources
- Effective recycling management
- Collaboration with environmentally conscious companies throughout the supply chain.
EPAFOS Management is devoted to the efficient operation and ongoing enhancement of the Environmental Quality Management System (EQMS), in accordance with :
- the requirements of the international standard ISO 14001:2015,
- Greek and European legislation, and
- the fulfillment of Environmental Compliance Obligations, in line with the approved Environmental Terms & Conditions and the current legislative and regulatory framework.

In order to achieve the above, EPAFOS Management:
- Draws up an acceptable risk appetite statement.
- Identifies, evaluates and manages environmental aspects and issues, as well as the associated risks and opportunities.
- Ensures that it is systematically informed about, and compliant with, the applicable national and Community legislation, as well as any other environmental requirements.
- Systematically researches the market with regard to issues and technologies related to applicable practices and environmental protection systems.
- Commits to ensuring that the requisite human and material resources are available.
- Informs and trains personnel in environmental management issues.
- Designs, adopts and monitors the application of indicators and targets in order to measure the effectiveness of programmes designed to achieve the aforementioned objectives.
- Communicates this policy to all personnel of the company and ensures that it is continually upgraded, such that it remains compatible with overall corporate objectives.
